Say what you will, but porn is and will forever be an industry based on a girl’s looks. The hotter a girl is the more money she will make. It is a simple formula.
Each girl in the industry is beautiful in their own way of course. The best performers will rise to the top, but a girl's popularity and success is influenced by their beauty which in turn compensates for duller performances. To be a top performer in the industry a girl must have mouth dropping looks and unbreakable work ethic.
Just like the average person who exercises, the industry’s top stars take care of their bodies. If looks didn’t matter than they wouldn’t be at the gym as much as they are.
A girl’s work ethic is also important because she could have a smoking hot body, but then be a poor performer. To understand what I am talking about go watch some Adriana Chechik and Nicolette Shea scenes. Notice how invested in the scene they are. You will also see the male talent in their scenes, more often than not, not controlling the scene’s energy level. Nicolette and Adriana get the best out of themselves and do not need male talent to try and get the best out of them. The energy in their scenes is some of the best in the industry.
This is my gripe with Abigail Mac.
I understand her point. I assume then she will ask to be withdrawn from all awards and won’t ask her Twitter followers to vote for her ever again. Good for her for standing up for equality.
No more vote for insert award here tweets.
Oh...
That tweet is from last September. So she had an epiphany in October because she sure had no problem asking for votes in the past.
Award shows don’t make anyone better? Really? Why ask people to vote for you when they don’t make you better? Probably because they make you richer...
Awards give stars more popularity which in return creates a market for more scenes therefore making the pornstar more money. Fan polls do no such thing.
If they don’t make anyone better than why is everyone asking for votes and are proud of their nominations? Awards celebrate a star’s hard work and label them as the best in a particular category. Hard work pays off and awards acknowledge that. So yes awards 100% acknowledge you are better than others. It is hypocritical to scold fans for doing the same thing on a smaller scale.
Moreover, Greg Lansky, the CEO of the sites Tushy, Blacked, and Vixen, created this whole elitist persona. He supports this with the awards he’s won. Tushy just so happens to be the site of Abigail’s showcase. Lansky has branded his sites as this elite ultra perfect porn that is untouchable. He boasts at being the best. If Abigail doesn’t like all the competition in the industry she needs to look no further than the owner of her showcase because even he did what she could not:
Although he did it out of arrogance (thinking he is the best so nothing else to prove) he still asked AVN not to nominate him. If Abigail was serious about not wanting to compete against the other girls in the industry she would have done the same. Instead she comes across as hypocritical.
It is wrong to lash out at fans for their polls and then ask them to vote for you to win awards. They are the same. Abigail can say they aren’t, but they are. Both put women against each other. The difference is one makes her money and the other doesn’t.
It’s simple, all women are sexy in their own ways, but naturally some are better than others (includes fitness, energy, acting, etc) at the job they do (like any profession), All fan polls do is acknowledge a pornstar’s hard work on a much smaller scale than official awards. That’s it.
